This part is a brand new Dayco timing belt or Cambelt.
Dayco timing and alternator belts are original equipment supply to the majority of European vehicles. The timing belt is probably the most important serviceable item of the vehicle so we insist on Dayco.
Timing belts MUST be changed at the manufacturers recommended service intervals.
The purpose of the timing belt is that it connects the crankshaft to the engine's camshaft which in turn opens and closes the engine's valves. A four-stroke engine requires that the valves open and close once every other turn of the crankshaft. The timing belt has teeth to turn the camshaft synchronized with the crankshaft and each belt is specifically designed for a particular engine type. For some vehicles, the timing belt may also be used to drive other engine components such as the water pump and oil pump.
