AEP is one of the largest suppliers of French car parts in the UK. This began in 1983 from a garage based in a Glasgow back street called Citroen Services. My business continued to grow over the next 10 years and in time became the largest independent Citroen specialist in Scotland.

During 1993 we decided to source some of our parts direct from the manufacturers to increase our range of product, and the first major account to support us was a Company called Valeo.

Over the next 5 years I continued to work 15-hour days 7 days a week to increase my supplier accounts and product knowledge with the view to becoming a major player in the supply of Citroen parts. We started supplying local garages in the West of Scotland with parts and by 1998 we had direct accounts with most parts manufacturers in France, Spain, Italy and the UK. At this point we decided to form the Company Auto Equip Pieces and move into the UK market.

At the start of 1999 all the foundations had been laid. AEP had its own warehouse, the direct accounts required with the manufacturers, and the best range of Citroen stock in the aftermarket. However; it lacked a good strong sales team. I was introduced to a very smart enthusiastic young man called Gavin Cleaver.

Over the next few weeks we had various meetings and offered him and his brother Jamie, a job. I was very impressed with both their product knowledge and commitment to the job.

Gavin started as Sales Manager. He set up a proactive sales team and a well structured program to move AEP into the UK aftermarket over night. We continued to work hard in the development of our Peugeot program in 2002 and then finally adding Renault to complete our French marque in 2004.

Our Company has achieved a fantastic growth over the past 6 years which is only due to hard work, commitment and dedication from all its employees from our management team, right through to warehouse staff.

The future is very exciting and we are working continually in product and development to introduce new product ranges. This will help to grow AEP into one of the top vehicle parts suppliers in the UK. In turn, this will lead to more opportunities within AEP and most importantly an even better service and range of parts, offered at the best price possible to our ever expanding number of valued customers.
